On March 6th, BBMK helped coordinate the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ASCAN) 2014 lobby day. A number of ASCAN volunteers met with legislators and staff to promote key legislative areas of interest. A press conference was held on the Capitol Steps. Representative Primavera, a long-time supporter of ASCAN, provided an update as the sponsor of legislation to continue the breast and cervical cancer and early detection and treatment program. Representative Peniston, sponsor of the bill to ban indoor tanning for children under 18, added comments as well. Members of the ASCAN community provided their personal stories. The Colorado Mammoth joined the press conference in their partnership with ASCAN to promote their “Blackout the Night” cancer fundraising event.
