Governor signed HB14-1191 Hit and Run Medina Alert Program

On March 25th, 2014 Governor Hickenlooper signed HB14-1191 Hit and Run Medina Alert Program sponsored by Rep. Conti and Senator King.  This bill authorizes the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to add the Medina alert program to the existing alert system to notify the public when a hit and run accident involving serious bodily injury or death occurs.  HB 1191 also establishes a partnership between law enforcement agencies, broadcasters, media, taxis on patrol, and other transportation agencies to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious hit-and-run cases.  The goal is to galvanize the community to assist in the search reporting and apprehension of the suspect.  BBMK on behalf of the City and County of Denver worked diligently to secure the passage of this bill a priority for the City and County of Denver.
